Thursday, May 29 – CAROUSEL OF STARS: A NIGHT OF SCOPITONE 16MM PRINTS  - 8 PM
Scopitone films are the 1960s ancestors of today's music videos. They were distributed on color 16mm film with a magnetic soundtrack, and were made to be shown on a Scopitone film jukebox. The first Scopitones were made in France around 1960, and the Scopitone craze spread throughout Europe (particularly in West Germany and England) before crossing the Atlantic to the United States in mid-1964. By the end of the 1960s, they were gone. Join us for a magical night of original Scopitone prints from the Wallfilm Archives Collection in dye transfer Technicolor. Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass! Bobby Vee! Kay Starr! The Kessler Twins! and many more... Curators in attendance!

Saturday, May 31 – EXPERIMENTAL ANIMATION: THE  MOTHER LODE - 8 PM
Peter Yates’s 75-minute film The Mother Lode is a “ghost-town opera” based upon strange-but-true events from the days of hardrock mining in the Eastern Sierra. Period photographs come to life through paper puppetry to sing of boom-and-bust dreams and betrayals. Part of a series of works using new media to empower the individual artist, it follows to the nth degree a do-it-yourself, low-budget aesthetic, with text, music, voices, instrumental performances, recording, sets, puppetry, masks, camera, and editing done almost entirely by the lonely filmmaker.

Please note that it is unlawful to post flyers, posters and/or leaflets on public or city property. This includes street posts, signs, fences among other entities. Only post advertisements and announcements of events on locations with consent from relevant parties.
